Sunday

I see that several people have bought on the registry…well done all of you.

Judy is up again this weekend and we have gone from store to store in a shopping frenzy, hell-bent on destruction of all mannequins and previously created fashions. We hit Nordstroms and left it a disaster, with Katie getting not one, but two skirts and a set of sexy boots. She is a force unto herself and gains momentum on her way as we respond to questions:

Judy: Perhaps we could do a brown shirt with that?

Katie: Um…okay.

Judy bolts out the door of the dressing room and is back with two shirts, one brown, one pink. Why the pink?

Judy: The pink one could go with the other skirt. Keep an open mind about this, okay?

Katie: …

Tuesday

The holidays have begun.

I hear the seasonal music in the malls of America rising higher than any clucking of a Thanksgiving turkey. I realize that Christmas is a good thing, yet, I must insist that the Thanksgiving holiday be given its due before the Christmas frenzy, ok?

Speaking of Christmas, I still have a personal wish list on Amazon.com that is available for anyone looking to give me a gift…hint, hint. (Katie would like to remind everyone that we are registered at Williams Sonoma, Linens and Things, and Pottery Barn.)

I still love Halo 2 and all things online within its yummy candy coating.

Monday…

It is once again Monday evening and I have a confession to make. I love Xbox Live/Halo 2. I love how it moves, how it sounds, how it makes me…drool with anticipation for the next match. I love the fact that I can play my brother-in-law and win, even though he is a better gamer than me in general, and I love that I can put him in my friend list and have games with just him and others that I like. I like the exclusiveness that this game can exhibit and the reason why is online etiquette in Halo 2 sucks. I routinely have perfect strangers tell me to do something nasty to my mother in so many words or to myself when they lose or I “accidentally” shoot them in the back because I used the crouch feature that masks my movement on radar. They think it is a glitch in the system or I cheated or something. No, my clueless friend, I just hit the training ground my first time out instead of trying to get the Covenant sword and be LukefuckingSkywalker all the time. Play Battlefront if that is your wish, but let me be slightly sneaky and covert and have a little fun. After all, it is quite satisfying when I can follow someone for several seconds without them knowing and cap them in the back of head and steal their grenades. I love grenades.

New revelations

I have successfully completed two weeks of work on the floor of the call center at Pitney Bowes and have realized some things:

I didn’t really comprehend the level of salesmanship I needed to reach in this job

I have a sexy phone voice

I still don’t like sales jobs

I would want to kick my own ass after a conversation on the phone if I wasn’t so interested in earning a living right now.

So, on the other hand, PB does have really great employee benefits. The health plan is generous, along with the 401k, the Short-Term Disability options, the on-site Nurse Practicioner, and the other multitude of choices that come with these options. It is almost dizzying thinking about it.

In other news, check out my last post and the comments there, as the elusive Nina has surfaced again. Hopefully, we will see more of her high caliber discourse.

Speaking of Kris, sadly, he has decided that his silly CPA exam is more important than my wedding, so he will not be coming up in time. Fortunately, he will show up later and we will party like its…my wedding. So now we are ten.

As for personal health, I have started going back to the gym after 5 months of waiting for my body to heal after the surgery. I am INCREDIBLY sore, but happy that three days a week I will be burning calories again.

If you haven’t seen the Incredibles, go see it. Don’t ask questions, just go and experience the timeless goodness of that chewy, gooey center that is Pixar animation.

Big Tuesday

Well, here it is. The Tuesday Florida has been waiting for. I can’t wait to see what kind of fraud can be uncovered this election day. Meanwhile, I voted through the mail, the only way to fly. Can you guess for whom I voted?

My new job is just that: a new job, complete with all the little quirks and headaches that come with a call center environment. This is especially new to me as I have never had a sales job. The pressure to hit quotas and “follow the script” is extreme. They post statistics of your previous day for everyone to see, creating a cycle of public humiliation and avoidance of that ridicule. After the training class camaraderie, I find it lonely on my shift of 8:30 to 17:00.
