Thursday
Haven’t been posting much the past few weeks. I won’t apologize since I’ve had some things going on…
1. Graduation
2. Moving to Columbus, OH
3. Revenge of the Sith
Katie graduated this year and we weathered the parents/grandparents in the vicinity. I say weathered, but it really wasn’t bad at all. I had a great time at dinner…the graduation ceremony was the boring part. I brought the prerequisite book to keep me motivated through THREE hours of air horns, cheering, and speeches. Afterwards, we met by the “sculpture” along the side of the Arena and took pictures. They will be up soon, I promise.
As per graduation, Katie has been accepted to Ohio State University and we are moving to Ohio on May 31, 2005. Judy is flying up that day and we will start the adventure. We don’t have a new address yet, but keep checking the site for an update. I will do a mass email when we do, so email me to be put on the list…unless you feel you are already, which you MIGHT be!
Went to see “Revenge of the Sith” and I have issues with it. It’s better than “Phantom Menace” but not “Empire Strikes Back.” Is it so hard to get Hayden Christensen to emote? I just didn’t feel like he had no other choice but to turn to the Dark Side. It wasn’t believable…and let me tell you, that needs to be believed. After watching Episode Three, I want to watch Four, Five, and Six now because I’m starting to believe that Ralph was right when he said this double trilogy is really Anakin’s story, not Luke’s. By the way, I don’t think its Hayden’s fault, I saw him in Life as a House and he was good. It’s George’s fault, I’m sorry to say. This is representative of my feelings in true color.
So…to recap:
1. George Lucas has gone totally fucking batshit loco.
2. I promise to have pictures up by tomorrow.
3. Just remembered that line from “Young Frankenstein”
Seda-give?!?!?
Thank you.
Revenge of the Sith
Ok. So I reamed ROTS early this morning and I felt after a couple hours of sleep that I needed to say something good. The lightsaber fights are LIGHTYEARS ahead of any other Star Wars movie. This is including Return of the Jedi (ROTJ). Actually, I would like to look at the later movies just for the lightsaber battles and find differences/similarities in technique. Seeing ROTS makes me want to watch ALL the movies, which is another good thing. I also enjoyed watching the evolution of the technology from just cool to crappy 70′s tech feel. Obviously, there had to be the tie in, but in the later films (Four, Five, and Six) I had the feeling of serious technological decay. Hence the Millenium Falcon versus any other ship shown in One, Two, or Three (except Bail Organa’s ship at the end, obviously). Can twenty years of autocratic rule stifle innovation and destroy all the cool ships in the galaxy? I don’t think so. True, we see diplomats and rulers in the first three, whereas we see poor freedom fighters (read, terrorists) in the latter three, yet rulers support the Rebellion. Bail Organa can’t be the only one. Where is all the cool tech, George?
Spokane Reception
Ok. I have a “Thank you” for everyone who attended the Spokane reception today. Katie and I had a great time talking with people about the wedding “process” we have undertaken and the THREE receptions we had. Also, a thank you to those of you who sent emails or called to wish us a happy life with regrets for not coming. You are classy individuals, even you Vic Bobb, and we offer hospitality to any of you in the future, whether that be in Columbus or elsewhere. While I’m in a magnanimous mood, please feel free to contact us in the future and let us know how you as an individual are handling life. This includes everyone who came to the Spokane reception, all six of you. Ah, my cynicism has returned! That moment of happiness was brought to you by “what the bleep do we know”. Rent it, steal it, beg for it, but watch it. It will be a mindfuck. I promise.
