Mac App A Day

So, I’ve been, amazingly enough, participating in the Mac App A Day giveaway and everything was going fine until I get to yesterday with EarthDesk.  I wake up at 5:00am every morning on the east coast and download my free mac app and I did the same with EarthDesk.  Well, I register for the app at the developer’s site, which I’m not thrilled about, and decide not to input my mailing address when registering for this FREE APP.  I wait for my response email from Xeric Design and nothing happens.  No email saying I didn’t do something right or thanks for trying anyway, but you didn’t make it.  Nothing.  I go to the post for EarthDesk and read that the “president” of Xeric Design is running queries on his database to get serials out to everyone who filled out the form with mailing addresses.  Note that the mailing address was not a REQUIRED field, but optional, unlike the email address and name fields.  Instead, the “president” posts that if you want to email them, they will “sort these out,” assuming that they will ask for a mailing address at that point.  Here is where I am very confused.  This is an app they are giving away for free and yet they cull the list of perfectly acceptable people asking for their app based on the fact that those people did not give all THEIR free info.  I will not be seeking to buy this app based on this elitist “president’s” actions and I feel better for it.  Go get OSXPlanet.  Its free and shows more than just earth.

Wish Lists

Now that Katie has gone and got herself a wish list, I think it is time to revisit the reasoning for these things.  They are an interesting look into who a person thinks they are, as evidenced by the Cosby Show, Gilmore Girls, Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, and lots of books on race and gender in Katie’s choices.  She wants to be a person who is entertained and well read on these topics.  I, on the other hand, just want to be entertained, as evidenced by the load of DVDs and fewer books in my list.  Interesting when you think about it, huh?

Amazon Wish List

I have heard through the Katie grape vine that some have been wanting to use my Amazon wish list and are hesitant based on the possible invalidity of some items.  This was the case and has been rectified.  A convenient button has been placed to the right, just under my recent tracks of music, to help anyone who was in this Christmas limbo concerning me and my wants.  By the way, Katie and I are traveling to LA for Christmas and I would rather have any packages, should there be any, delivered after the Christmas holiday.  Thank you for your support.

Computers serve films on demand | Chicago Tribune

Computers serve films on demand | Chicago Tribune  This is exactly what Apple is going to do with the upcoming iTV.  I love this idea so much and I wish I could take advantage of it using Beyond TV as well.  The ultimate combo would be both, of course, but I’m willing to work with the two separately as well.
