I have been reading about this series of fires in San Diego County and I couldn’t get a grasp on the scope until I came across this map courtesy of KPBS twitter updates on a Google mashup. Really quite clever and informative, I just wish it would break out the clumps when I mouse over them. Oh well, you can’t have everything.

My friend Jacob sent me an email the other day talking about how Google has everyone’s phone number and you should search your own number and click the remove link. Well, I replied that the scenario was a fallacy and I told him why: there are reverse lookups for phone numbers as ads on the sides of Google searches, that is just the way capitalism is. He send me back a very nice email thanking me for testing the issue. (If you know Jacob, then you know how incredibly sweet he is.)
